THE STORY SO FAR
Nestled among the picturesque Peaks and Dales of the Peak District and situated on the idyllic Monsal Trail, Hassop Station is a beloved landmark with a rich history dating back over a century. Serving as a vital stop during both world wars for soldiers transferring to nearby Chatsworth to convalesce and acting as hubs for harbouring supplies and ammunition, the building is steeped in history. Despite its significance, the station closed its doors in 1964, marking the end of an era during the Beeching cuts, and was then a goods yard and later a bookshop.
In 2010, fuelled by our passion to breathe new life into this beautiful building and honour its rich heritage, we embarked on a heartfelt restoration project. Over the years, the site has blossomed into a vibrant hub, boasting a spacious cafe and terrace where guests can refuel after an adventure or gather with friends to enjoy our delicious seasonal menu. Our stylish gift and bookshop offer a curated selection of gifts & cards waiting to be discovered, and for those seeking adventure, our on-site cycling hub, Monsal Trail Cycle Hire, is staffed by a team of friendly experts ready to assist with all your cycling needs. In recent years the neighbouring Station Farm, part of the Chatsworth Estate has been converted into stylish holiday accommodation.
We take pride in our food, ensuring that every dish on our menu captures the authentic flavours of the Peak District by sourcing all our ingredients from nearby farms and suppliers. Supporting the local community & economy is of utmost importance to us, and we reflect this in every avenue of our business. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
